Another Update
I was in Lubbock last Sunday for a visit with my dad and wanted to let everyone know what his status is. He is still making progress, although it is still slow and a bit frustrating for all of us. His speech is improving. I just got off of the phone with him a few minutes ago and was able to understand him much better than in the past. He is also eating more than he has been.
The therapists are working with him pretty hard every day, which is certainly aiding his recovery. Mom informs me that he has had some movement in the fingers on his right hand. This is a great sign and, hopefully, only a precursor of things to come.
We are still in the process of weighing our options for dad’s next destination. We’ve still got a lot of decisions to make regarding his care. As my parents will be moving to Abilene in August, the already difficult decisions are being compounded, so please continue to pray that we will make the decisions that we need to make.
Mom was in Corpus for about four days late last week. Her mother is not doing very well, so it was good that she could get down there for a visit. Since I was able to go to Lubbock on Sunday, mom was able to extend her stay in Corpus for a few extra days.
Mary Beth, Charlton and the kids are going to Lubbock on Sunday for a few days. My parents will certainly be happy to see them.
I apologize that it has been a while since my last update. It has been a little crazy around my office lately and it’s been hard to find enough time in one sitting to compose a new one.
Please continue to pray for my dad’s recovery process and for the decisions we will have to make in the near future.
