Missing Mazie
Well, the house in Corpus is being sold and the close is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 16. As there were still a few items in the house, including our dog, Mazie, I went to Corpus on Friday, had lunch with my granddad, loaded up my truck with Mazie and some other items and headed to Abilene. We had left Mazie in Corpus as there was not a good place for her to stay in Abilene until the house was finished being remodeled. Mom had made arrangement for Mazie to stay in the back yard of an empty rent house across the street from our house.
I had a good trip and Mazie traveled well. Dad got to see Mazie for the first time since before his stroke. He was really happy to see her. As we needed to get her a water bowl, we left her and went to the store. When we got back, she was gone. We spent several hours looking for her Friday night and on Saturday, but have had no luck finding her. I posted several signs in the area and in the student center at ACU, as many students live in the area where she went missing.
Today, mom will call the various animal control agencies in the area and the ACU campus police. She will also go to the pound to see if she's been found. Please pray that Mazie will be safe and be found. My dad (and the rest of the family) has been through enough this year and we don't need this added stress right now.
In other news, this weekend was my first time to see dad since he left the TLC in Galveston at the end of September. He's to be doing well, but is not having a lot of activities to get him out of the house during the day. The various therapists come to the house and work with him a few days a week. On Tuesday, he's going to be evaluated again by the therapists and will, hopefully, begin some out patient therapy several days a week.
The house in Corpus had an offer on it within a week of it going on the market, so that's some good news. As I mentioned above, the close is scheduled for Thursday, so hopefully everything will go well with that. The remodeling of the house in Abilene is coming along nicely. I spoke with the contractor on Saturday and everything is going according to schedule. It should be completed sometime around Christmas.
Next week is Thanksgiving and we will all be heading to Abilene to spend it with my folks. Charlton, Mary Beth and the kids will be making the trip from Grants, NM. I will be coming from Houston and our good friends, Mike and Hope and their son, J.H., are planning on joining us from Lubbock. Please keep our safe travels in your prayers.
